It was after Oscar’s knee-high lunge that the pair squared up and had to be pulled apart by their shocked team-mates before angry words could turn into a physical scrap.

While Costa has a reputation for losing his temper with his opponents, the training-ground incident was largely being blamed on Oscar – even though the pair swiftly struck a truce.

A source told Telegraph Sport: “Oscar’s challenge was outrageous, it was straight into the knee of Costa and could have done him some real damage. That sparked a brawl between them and the other players had to stop it.”

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink is said to be relaxed about the incident that came in a highly-charged training session

When American Legion Chaplain Bill Cook peered through the chain-link fence at the windswept landscape — a broken runway, scrubby fields and green foothills in the distance — he remembered the Phantoms. The fighter jets were once a regular sight, slicing through the air over what was for decades a bustling military base. “The jets would just roar,” he said on a recent afternoon at the old U.S. Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. Now the Vietnam veteran is leading the charge to transform a small piece of that land into a final resting place for Orange County’s veterans. Cook and others have been pushing for a veterans cemetery here since El Toro closed in 1999, but the idea is finally gathering steam as the old base is transformed into a sprawling park and neighborhoods of new homes. The proposal has gained the support of legislators, county supervisors, city officials and veterans groups, though some have worried about a sustainable funding source. But the most daunting hurdle may well be placing a cemetery next to planned tracts of homes that are being marketed to Asians. The developer who is building the thousands of homes on the rim of the Orange

New Brisbane recruit James Roberts expects to cop some stick from former Gold Coast teammates on the field but says there are no hard feelings with the Titans off it.

“I am sure they will try to get into me but it’s all good off the park – I hope they do well this year,” said Roberts at his first Brisbane pre-season training session on Monday.

The reigning Dally M Centre of the Year said he hoped to finish his NRL career at the Broncos after leaving the Titans in the off-season due to a contract forgery bungle.

The once troubled Roberts, 22, is at his fourth NRL club after signing a two-year Broncos deal.

He said he knocked back interest from South Sydney and the Dragons in order to play under “special coach” Wayne Bennett and still embrace the Queensland lifestyle.

“It’s a fresh start, a new beginning,” Roberts said. “I intended to do that at the Gold Coast but things didn’t happen the way I planned but I intend

There are a lot of things can be expected when you own a boat. You can either use the boat for personal purpose or you can even turn it into a business stuff that makes money. If you use it for the former, you can sail on a lake whenever you get the chance in one of your weekend getaways. Gentlemen put a sizable component of their self-confidence on the capacity to build romantic relationships with girls. Though assured males have no trouble seeking girls, they need to become considered as desirable and wish women to go after them. To be appealing, they seek to improve their look. They could invest time and effort in the fitness center, observe what they take in and also focus on their self care. Men who are naturally lean may possibly take measures to gain body weight and boost their muscles whereas heavy guys may well do their best to be able to harden their physique. Not one of the initiatives will do anything to increase how big a gentleman’s male organ. When that’s the part of a man’s physical appearance that may be causing him pressure, he may think that there is practically nothing he is able to do. Lacking a sizable manhood, countless men feel uncomfortable to be on their own with women. The good news is, there can be things a man can perform which will help with this particular issue. Last night’s Monday Night Football game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans outrated Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers (7.2 to 6.5).

What does this mean?

It means that baseball is America’s pastime. As in, past its time as America’s top sport.

We’ve known for years that football dominates this country. But last night once again proved it.

Let’s take you through the comparison.

The NFL game on ESPN featured the battle of two 3-2 teams in small markets. It’s a game that only fans and the bettors watch. But you’d suspect the bettors would have even shut off the game at the half when the Titans (2 ½ point favorites) were up 17-0.

Fantasy football watchers giving football the edge, as my friend John Ourand from Sports Business Journal, suggests? Could be. People that own the game’s running backs Maurice Jones-Drew and Chris Johnson want to see how they do – especially because it’s the final game of the week and a good or bad performance could mean a win or a loss. If 23

Roger Federer was congested but not tested. Speaking through the nasal twang of a flu that made its way through the entire Federer clan and eventually claimed its patriarch, the Swiss great said he was on the mend as he tries to defend his Brisbane International title.

The world number three needed only 55 minutes and a few Codrals to dismiss the challenge of German qualifier Tobia Kamke on Thursday night, ensuring he was tucked up in bed nice and early after a 6-2 6-1 rout.

He will meet Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-final on Friday night but much of the conjecture before his first appearance of 2016 focused on reports of a health or injury scare that could have potentially scuttled his tournament.
In good shape: Roger Federer stretches for a forehand against Tobias Kamke.

As it turns out, that ailment was a nasty flu, hence Federer’s request to put his opening match back to Thursday, which means he now has to play on four consecutive days if he makes Sunday’s final.

He knew it was coming, too, after it had made its way through his family. He didn’t feel well enough to hit-up on Tuesday but was convinced he would

Newcastle firebrand Tariq Sims knows he needs to hose down the fire if he wants to keep his brand off the shelves.

For the second year in a row, the Knights second-rower will spend the entire summer burning in the knowledge he’ll miss an opening chunk of the new NRL season because of a shoulder charge.

Last year, it was three games.

This year, it’s five.

“I’ve played enough footy to realise now that it’s my fault that my technique was wrong in that circumstance,” Sims told AAP.

The emotional exit of skipper and popular Novocastrian Kurt Gidley has left a gaping hole in seniority in the Hunter, an important figure that new coach Nathan Brown has yet to appoint.

But it’s the departure of fellow back-row hitman Beau Scott that has emboldened Sims to change his ways.

“I describe myself as a leader of sorts, and some senior players have to put their hand up and fill those roles,” he said.

“If we could play forever, it’d be great. But your days are always numbered.”

That realisation has dawned quickly on the former North Queensland forward, who has sobered in the understanding that he now walks the thinnest of tightropes with the match review committee.

Liverpool Legends 4-0 Australian Legends.

It was like watching a band reform after a 20-year hiatus. They stumbled on stage overweight, sang off key and played out of tune, but still sent the fans home happy.

As they sat contentedly, football in Australia was quietly dealt a slap across the face.
On target: Liverpool Legends celebrate Luis Garcia’s goal.

‘Quality of football’ has long been the catch-cry of the ‘Eurosnobs’ who ignore domestic football while staying up all hours to watch the English Premier League. However, as 40,000 flocked to watch some old pros run around the pitch, that argument fell flat.

Abroad, such “Legends” games are usually reserved for testimonial farewells or to raise money for charities. A small donation and a brief hospital visit were made, but this was neither, essentially just another opportunity to satisfy a certain section of Australia’s football public.

After sending their senior team to Australia for three friendlies in recent years, Liverpool shipped over a team of mostly retired players, talking loudly about how highly they valued their Australian supporters.
Red-hot: Steven Gerrard showed he hadn’t lost any pace.

Oscar and Diego Costa had to be separated by stunned Chelsea team-mates during a furious training-ground bust-up that threatened to descend into a brawl.

There were claims that the pair even exchanged blows at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground yesterday (Thursday), but an eyewitness insisted Oscar and Costa were dragged apart before the incident went that far.

The clash took place after Oscar made what was described as an “outrageous” challenge into the knee of Costa after the striker had initially gone in hard on him.

This year’s World Series featured two baseball teams that had waited a long time to make it to the sport’s biggest contest. The New York Mets haven’t won a World Series since 1986. The Kansas City Royals made it all the way to the 2014 series and lost to the San Francisco Giants. The Royals hadn’t won a World Series since 1985. But 30 years later, the Kansas City team is back on top.

The Royals started out strong, winning the first two games of the series in their home stadium, in Missouri. Game 1 was a staggering five hours long and ran for 14 innings instead of the regular nine. In Game 2, Kansas City won a commanding victory, with a score of 7–1.

Game 3 was played in New York City, the Mets’ home turf. Mets fans were nervous—only 11 teams in Major League Baseball history have come back to win after losing the first two games in the best-of-seven series. The Mets won that game 9–3.

Sam Allardyce has apologised to Jurgen Klopp after he suggested the German had caused Liverpool’s injury crisis by asking his players to work too hard physically over the hectic Christmas period.

Allardyce insisted he had not meant to upset Klopp in a radio interview and admitted he should not have commented when asked to give his view on why Liverpool players are picking up so many injuries, including the three victims of hamstring strains during the Capital One Cup semi-final against Stoke earlier this week.

Klopp and Allardyce clashed on the touchline during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last week and Allardyce further inflamed the situation by describing the Liverpool manager as a “soft German” after he had complained about a Jeremain Lens tackle on Mamadou Sakho.

Jurgen Klopp may have to make signings in January

The relationship appeared to be a tense one, but Allardyce has tried to call an end to hostilities after Klopp delivered a withering response to his radio interview.

“I am glad for Sam,” Klopp said when asked about Allardyce. “Such an experienced manager, that he has time to think about Liverpool’s problems – I don’t have time to think about this.”

Allardyce tried to

The ball weighs 22 ounces, the court is 94 feet long, the hoop is ten feet high. These dimensions provide obstacles and opportunities to be overcome or taken advantage of through a blend of sound strategy and pure physical ability. Competitive balance is achieved through a mixture of trial and error and planning; the hoop is ten feet off the ground for no particular reason other than James Naismith nailed the peach basket that high, but something like the 3-point line has moved in and out, in an effort to create an ideal threshold that can prevent average players from regularly making the shot, but enable excellent shooters to benefit from the additional point offered.

Steph Curry is threatening to ruin that hard-won competitive balance. This is a thing that happens in the world of professional video gaming all the time.

To create a truly competitive eSports game, developers need to craft a game world whose rules and restrictions – on movement speed, jump height, weapon accuracy, etc. – create a system where the chief determiners of outcome are player skill and strategy, just as it is in the real world. The problem is that in creating these worlds, developers sometimes slip

On November 19, when the Golden State Warriors trailed the Los Angeles Clippers by 23 points, something incalculable lingered in the air. Despite the lead, you didn’t believe the Clippers would beat the Warriors, who were just 12-0 then, freshly varnished with the aura of invincibility we’ve since grown accustomed to. Invincibility, in the form of Stephen Curry, was still glued to the bench with one basket and foul trouble. The Warriors were like Superman, waiting for the last bullet to ricochet off his chest. Each Clipper blow only made them look stronger.

They won. And they kept winning. Eventually, you watched the Warriors break 16-0, then 20, then 24, conjuring comparisons to Jordan’s 72-win ’96 Bulls. Curry continued to operate in historic terms. He climbed up the all-time 3-point ranks; the only single-season record he can break is the one he set last year. He will. Soon, your heart quivered with each moment of brilliance. Steeped in a collective experience, you flipped to each game with the understanding that one day, these events would be neatly engraved into the pervasive myth. You felt, for the first time, a

Like it or not, Roman Reigns is your new World Heavyweight Champion, the culmination of a volatile year-long arc and, ultimately, a Monday night dedicated to putting him over at all costs. And it basically worked. But does that mean the weekly broadcast and creative direction in total are back on track? Let’s just call that a work in progress, given that most of TLC’s limping feuds have carried over and key talent are still injured or on personal level – plus, it’s not as if Vince is gonna get Super McMahon Punched 52 times a year.

So before Braun Strowman threatens to bonk me with an aluminum garbage-can lid, I better fast forward to the five key things (in addition to the usual accompaniment of Twitter-friendly sidebar fodder) I took away from the December 14, 2015 edition of Raw.

5. At the Playground, Ya Know
In my column awarding Wrestler(s) of the Year to New Day, I’d referenced the trio turning WWE into their own personal playground. Though last night, they and Roman Reigns both manifested that metaphor a bit too literally. During Reigns opening segment, his retort to Stephanie McMahon belittling him as “a disgrace” was, unimaginatively, “No, you are

The Sydney Roosters are a strong chance of signing Dale Copley in a move that could gift superstar centre Michael Jennings to Parramatta.

The Eels have so far missed out in a centre silly season that has resulted in them losing Will Hopoate to Canterbury, Jamal Idris walking away from rugby league indefinitely, Dylan Walker joining Manly, Tim Lafai shifting from the Bulldogs to St George Illawarra, Delouise Hoeter being released by Wests Tigers and James Roberts swapping the Gold Coast for Brisbane after a contract forgery dispute.

However, Fairfax Media can reveal the blue and golds could be the biggest winners in an unprecedented off-season for the movement of contracted players. While playing for the Penrith, Jennings famously said he hated everything western rivals Parramatta represented. Despite being contracted to the Roosters, the NSW and Australian centre could make a shock switch to the Eels.

While the Roosters would like to keep Jennings, they are trying to free up salary cap room that would be used for, among other things, ensuring the retention of in-demand forward Boyd Cordner. The Broncos are trying to offload Copley after snaring Roberts and the Roosters are

American Pharoah proved it’s not impossible to win the Triple Crown. On Saturday, June 6, the horse rode into history after winning the Belmont Stakes horse race in Long Island, New York. The Triple Crown is a victory by a horse in three different races—the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes—in the same racing year. The 3-year-old bay colt is the first horse in 37 years to win the Triple Crown. He is only the 12th Triple Crown winner in the history of horse racing.

“It’s ridiculously insane what he did yesterday,” Bob Baffert, American Pharoah’s trainer said. “It was a beautiful moment.”

The Triple Crown races happen over the span of five weeks on circular tracks of different lengths. The races are short, but the horses exert a massive amount of energy dashing to the finish line. The Belmont Stakes is the last race of the trio, and the longest. American Pharoah led the entire race and finished by five and a half horse lengths.

He’s been tweeting about it non-stop since the trailer came out back in October, contributed to breaking the Internet by securing his tickets as soon as they became available online and even changed his Twitter handle to “Mace WinDOO” – you know, just like Samuel L. Jackson’s Jedi character in that crappy trio of Star Wars films we’d all like to pretend never happened.

In other words: When Doolittle says he’s a Star Wars nerd, he isn’t kidding around.

However, unlike most other nerds, Doolittle actually has a girlfriend – a very patient one, willing to dress up in the special new outfit he bought for her to wear to Thursday night’s first screening of The Force Awakens. But needless to say, she was less than enthused.

She wasn’t alone, though, because Doolittle also bought himself a Chewbacca costume. You didn’t think he’d really turn up as himself, did you?

There was some awkward tension along the way – we get the feeling that same scene played out in cars all across America last night – as well as itchy costume issues, but they eventually made it to the venue with happy faces. And judging by Doolittle’s concise review of the movie (“THAT. WAS.

Over the past year, plenty has changed in NXT. Stars have moved up to the main roster, crowds have gotten larger, expectations have gone through the roof. This is no longer a developmental…not even close. Rather, it has become a promotion capable of standing on its own, creating stars, touring the country and selling nearly 16,000 tickets for an event in Brooklyn. In short, NXT’s evolution has been a near constant. But what happens when NXT made its biggest leap to date, crossing the pond for TakeOver: London?

You get a great show.

Sure, some of the mainstays were there. Bayley is still the Women’s champ. The Realest Guys in the Room were in an emotional match for the tag titles. But if you go back just to May’s NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable, less than half the competitors on that card were in matches that aired live on Wednesday afternoon. The main event, Finn Bálor versus Samoa Joe, featured two guys who only started making their mark on NXT in the past year, even though many have been watching them forever. Yet, their battle was exactly the type of match that we’ve come to expect from TakeOver.

A full recap probably won’t do it

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season despite the appointment of Zinedine Zidane to replace Rafa Benitez as manager.

The news will come as a boost to Manchester United, although Paris St-Germain remain favourites to land Ronaldo in the summer.

Benitez had been open to the prospect of Ronaldo leaving the Bernabeu as he attempted to create a more team-orientated philosophy at the club.

Zidane has now taken over from Benitez and revealed his plans to start with Ronaldo, Bale and Karim Benzema in attack, but that does not change the fact that Ronaldo will most likely be allowed to go at the end of the season.

Although Bale was devastated by the departure of Benitez and will reassess his future if his position changes under Zidane, the Welshman remains Real’s key man in the eyes of club president Florentino Perez.

Zidane will now work to prove to Bale that he also has his full backing. If Bale were to decide that he wanted to leave, United would not be the favourites to bring him back to the Premier League, with both Chelsea and Manchester City also interested.

United currently stand a far better chance of re-signing Ronaldo
